Effective Essay Writing

Most people do not know where or how to begin writing an essay. Below is an attempt to make it easier for everyone to get started on writing an effective essay. This should come in handy especially in university for I have been told that this is up to standards for university level essays. I hope you enjoy and that it helps you in the future.

Here is a basic general form for writing an introduction for your essays which can be manipulated to accommodate the different types of essays and variations in topics. Its short and effective. The introduction should be short and you should get right into the topic at hand. Basically here it is:

'In order to fully understand X, Y must first be EXAMINED. Once this has been ESTABLISHED, it will be SEEN that Z (thesis statement).

X = The topic of your essay

Y = The points/arugements for your essay (it can be as many as you like)

Z = Your thesis statement.

CAPITAL = Anything in CAPITAL can be replaced with other words(synonyms). for example , understand can be replaced by "aprreciate" and examined can be replaced by "seen" and seen can be replaced with "obvious".

Here is an example of a topic included in the general formula.

In order to fully appreciate transportation, various forms of vehicles such as buses must first be examined. Once this has been seen, it will be obvious that transportation is useful in everyday life.

More Examples

Overall, i know it seems small and insignificant but i think that it is a good way to start your essay. If you like it you can use it. If you dont like it, you dont have to use it. If possible, just throw in a general statement about your topic right before applying this formula. Here is an example of one of my essays that i have to do that i am still working on.

The mind and brain problem has been tackled by many philosophers but none as effective as Rene Descartes. In order to fully appreciate what it is to be a person(X), Rene descartes solution to the mind and brain problem, Lockes definition for what it means to be a person, and the dualists solution to the problem(Y) must first be examined. Once this has been established it will be obvious that Leanord is indeed a person(Z).

This first sentence of my intro is sort of general. The rest of it is plug and play into the formula for the general introduction.

Thank you for your time. Please comment If you liked or what you did not like. Let me know if it was useful.

hey,

That was great! These little things are the ones that count towards an effective essay. I learned so much of what you write, so I really encourage you to write more. I am looking around for useful things like your article that will help me improve my essays, because I seem to be stuck at getting a B grade as the highest grade I get whenever I write essays- even though I put a lot of effort in them. Anyways, overall I liked your advice and thanks.
